Ship Facts: Jewel of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Jewel of the Seas Deck Plans
The good and the bad
1st time cruise with RCI to Northern Europeon the whole very good. Boarding at Harwich good we got to car park 11am.Gave cases to luggage team in car park Shuttle bus took us to ship we where booked in within 10 mins and on board. Cabins where ready at 1pm. So we went and had a bit of lunch in the windjammer.

we where in cabin 8508 which has a balcony nice size room with queen size bed. There was loads of storage space and cases fitted under bed.

Room service

Our cabin attendant was very good cleaned room each morning and put in fresh towells each evening.

Chops Grill

We went to Chops twice it was well worth the £20 supplement. The waiters where really good and the food was even better

Portofino

We ate here twice and as above really good this had a supplement of £15 per person

Main dining room

Very good but we only ate here twice quite often ate at Windjammer buffet restaurent. This was a great place to eat not busy at evening meal times. Big choice.

Seaview Cafe we had evening meal here a few times it shuts at 6.30 pm so we went at about 6pm thisw did fish and chips hotdogs salads chicken just easy meals but sometimes just nice to have a simple meal.

We always ate about 6ish then went to theatre

Theatre

amazing two shows per nite most times 7pm and 9pm or 9pm and 10,45pm

No recorded backing a 9 pce quality orchestra. A big selection of shows Broadway meets west end bits from all the great shows Rat Pack nite, a violin nite iI thought might be boring but he was amazing had my foot tapping. Celine Dion tribute singer really good Bee Gees copy band had the theatre rocking. and a traditional Russian dance group brilliant.

Could always get seat went in about 15mins before show.

Casino

Really nice had a dabble twice

Pits Stop bar

People could smoke in here but as a given up smoker it was not to smoky but plenty of other non smoking bars so you dont need to go in there. The barman was really good and very pleasant

Days at sea

nice pool area. Indoor pool area Quizzes Dance classes Bingo mini golf etc

The ship

Really nice good condition no place ever to crowded.

Latte Tudes

This was a coffee bar About £3 for a coffee and biscuit but a bit of a joke paper cups abit run like mcdonalds they did have a few cups hidden away but i always asked for proper cup . To see people order a nice cffee with a liquer in it and see them handed a paper cup was the pitts so 5 star ship 1 star coffee shop

the ports

Tallin Stockholm Helsinki Had local open top hop on hop offs at dock so no need to pay for ships Shuttle bus About £8 each . Gothenburg get shuutle into city as its about 6miles away Copen hagen there is HOHO but its a nice walk into city about 15 /20 mins walk but you go past Mermaid except for Russia we did our own thing . In russia we did 1 morning tour around st Petersburg,And we did a tour 1 afternoon called walk along Nevsky this was brill drooped off and told to be back at pick up point 3hrs later so could do our own thing shop have coofee see out side a few palaces great for the ones who dont like the cattlemarket tours

copenhagen really good so was stockholm and gothenburg but our faourite was Tallin in the old town Helsinki jusyt so so but still worth a visit

Drink prices

pint heineken Approx inc compulsory service charge £5

Gin And Tonic house gin £4.50 But decent measure

Glass wine £5 cheapest you could pay more

We did take a box of wine on board nice to have a drink as you sail away and get ready . Nearly got caught with the wine but if you do they just take it off you untill end of cruise.

Tips

funny subject We gave our cabin cleaner £40 tip we gave a few waiters and barmen periodical £5 tips Waiter in speciality diningt we gave £15 tip

our ship account was about £900 that was drinks a few bingo games supplement in speciality dining so with the service charge we also paid £100 on that.
