A Good Holiday

Sail Date: August 2012
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

We booked this cruise as we mainly enjoyed our cruise on the Magic last year.

We had 2 cabins, a balcony for us and an inside for the kids, on deck 9.

Embarkation was a bit longer than normal, with a queue of about 45 minutes.

Our cabins were bigger than on the other cruise liners, the steward was excellent, attentive and discreet.

Our bags arrived about 5pm, and for the first time ever, one of our cases had been opened and our much loved travel iron had been confiscated. Two bacardi's and a bottle of Pinot Grigio later we had got over this.

After last years 'any time dining' debacle, we chose the late seating. As I heard many complaints about the any time dining again, please do not ever chose this as an option.

We were in the Sapphire, unfortunately directly under the air conditioning vent, it was absolutely freezing. The food was good, but the service was a bit hit and miss, often no bottle of wine until the second course. The More restaurant was also very bright which was a bit odd.

Biggest disappointment was the lido marketplace. The opening times are very strange and it is all a bit disjointed. Biggest frustration is having to scoop butter from a big pot, which is difficult when trying to hold your plate.

The casino, lanai and red frog pub were all excellent. The staff were very friendly and quick. The casino also showed the olympics which was a big plus for us supporting team GB.

The pool area was busy on sea days and you could not get a bed, but on port days was fine. I especially like the shaded areas.

Croatia, we walked to the beach from the shuttle bus, very busy, but the water was lovely. This is a favorite stop for us.

Marseille, been before and not tempted to get off.

Venice, used the people mover for 1 euro and walked through, although the extreme heat stopped us this time from going all the way to St Marks square.

Sciliy, a Carnival tour to a beach (kids request). Took approx 45 mins to get to and we had 3 hours on the beach. The sellers were very 2 mins and this did get tiresome.

Livorno, a Carnival tour to Pisa and a beach.

Rome, did not get off the boat. Far to hot to enjoy in August.

Disembarkation was very smooth.

All in all a very good holiday, the kids had a great time and so did we.

For us a good holiday is when the kids have a great time, we meet some great people and we have a great big bar bill. The Breeze delivered. Very good value for money. Less
