Celebrity Cruises Truth or Hype?

Sail Date: August 2012
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Venice

We have cruised on Royal Caribbean several times, and in May on the Allure,
and decided to try Celebrity because they claim to be a step up in the cruising experience.

We booked the Silhouette out of Venice. The only step up was the evening dining. The food was super! The Captain was very entertaining and could have a second career as a stand up comic. Other than that, they are very ordinary, and in some instances below standard. The room was the same room we have stayed in on several cruises, the room attendant was as attentive as we've always experienced. Lunch and breakfasts were as we've always experienced.

We were still nickeled and dimed for all the extras like on every other cruise, e.g., Attendant walking around on Sunday at brunch with Mimosas for a charge. Slow bar service, below standard entertainment, especially the onboard cast. The guest entertainers were good as usual.

We were given major misinformation 3 times by the Information Staff on More Deck 3. I complained to the Staff person in charge and she showed mild concern.

My advice to everyone, is don't fall for the hype of Celebrity. You will get just as good an experience, if not better, on another cruise line line--> Royal Caribbean, Princess, or Holland America and save money. Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Silhouette 9259

Like many other cabins with a balcony on every ship. Nothing special. Would have liked the bed first then the couch and table near the balcony door.
