Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
I would avoid RCCL's Monarch of the Seas
I just got back from a three night weekend Bahamas trip on Monarch of the Seas out of Port Canaveral FL. My girlfriend and I just wanted to get away for the weekend so we decided to go with RCCL Monarch of the Seas. We have previously been on two ships before this cruise. Carnival Inspiration and Norweigian Dawn.

We are in our mid 30's. I'm going to be quick in this review of the monarch.

The Cafe Windjammer which is the buffet area always smelled of chemicals. It was dirty with food on the floor. There were no ice dispenser machines or tea, juice machines usually on most ships. There were just coolers with spigots for drinks and "occasionally" drinks with ice in a bar area near the buffet. It was a big hassle to find ice for your tea or lemonade. Also there wasn't enough seating. It was always crowded and took my GF and I about five minutes to find a seat. Also, no trays for your food and drink. that means you made probably three trips to the buffet area to get you food, drink, and silverware. The food in the buffet was mediocre at best. The "one" Ice cream machine was on another deck was broken two nights of the cruise. The free pizza was good if you are into government cheese. I truly felt like the buffet dining experience had no class to it. It was just an area where the cattle were herded to get their slop. I'm never outspoken, but I did cry out one time while in the Windjammer. "Can I just get some freakin' Ice for my Iced Tea".

We stayed in room 4004. The room was pretty clean. There was a big stain on the carpet but overall it was a pleasant stay in the room. Every other aspect of the ship was good. The buffet experience killed it for us on this trip. I would avoid booking this ship. There are better ships out there that go to the same destinations from port Canaveral. In addition, There is no excuse for a ship to be old and not have some modern amenities like ice machines. Thumbs down Monarch of the Seas
