The land pre-tour from Fairbanks to Seward was one of the best land tours we have ever made, and the first as part of a group. We were expected to get our own meals which was fine with us. The accommodations ranged from Excellent (Talkeetna and Denali) to poor (Seward). The train trip was wonderful and the side trips in Denali (You MUST take the extended land tour to mile 62 if you wish to see wildlife) and Talkeetna never to be forgotten. The Tour guide Jeff was outstanding in his intelligence and how he went out of his way to help people.
The high point of our cruise was our Butler Caetano was a true "expediter" and problem-solver. The sky suite was nice in size, had only two electrical outlets and an awful view as we were over the raft section deck 5, and should have been considered an obstructed view. Although we had booked a land-tour and suite it took 5 hours to get our luggage, which should be an embarrassment to Celebrity. We had "anytime" dining, yet one night they refused to seat us claiming we had cancelled our reservation for the night 3 months previously. We went back to our cabin Caetano the butler said he had a reservation for us for that night on his report, and we went back to the dining room with printed documents from Celebrity showing we had a reservation. A table miraculously appeared. The entertainment was excellent, better than expected. the dance bands seemed to play the same music every evening. Most of the ports were not very interesting to walk around, and tours are a must. We saw enormous amounts of wildlife on the two tours; yet this is often a matter of luck.
