Splendour of the Seas Eastern Med.
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
We started this trip with a week off the boat in Tuscany (4 days) and 3 days in Venice (the embarkation port), so by the time cruise rolled around, we were ready to relax a bit.
We were in a Junior Suite that had seating and a nice private balcony. The room itself was clean and well appointed. The iPad was convenient for keeping track of our account.
We had late seating dining which seemed typical (in my limited experience). The food was good and varied. The wait staff were very attentive and personable. The cafe type restaurant (The Windjammer) wasn't real popular with my group. Luckily we found that the formal dining room was available for breakfast every day, so we took advantage of that. A lot more quiet and less of a feeding frenzy then the other spot.
The entertainment was good. Great musicianship onboard. While we are more of the "grab a book and read for an hour" types, it seemed that for people that liked to dance and imbibe a bit more, More there were ample opportunities to do that. It seemed that that there were plenty of options for all types on board.
It seems that from some reviews, there are those that expect a high-class type experience on cruise ships. I don't see it that way. We travel a lot in the US and abroad and have stayed at everything from the spartan to the stuffy. I would say that the cruise experience falls somewhere in between. Make the most of it, be flexible, don't expect the Savoy and have fun! Less
