Carnival Legend is a beautiful if older ship. Boarding and disembarking the ship was like a cattle call. VIP may help for quick boarding but I've used it before and you still have to wait to get off. Service in the cabin was great. Everything was clean and the guys were friendly. Service in the dining room was spotty. We used the anytime dining option and sometimes had to wait in a long line. They didn't seem to have enough staff working in this dining room as there were long waits between courses or to get condiments. Food was fair. I started to get tired of the same things after a few days. Some dishes were excellent and others were a disaster. A few just lacked seasoning. Coffee was good but the water had a strong chlorine taste. Many lunches the buffet was the only place open and the hot food was lukewarm or cold. The prepared to order stuff was a better option. Don't bother eating their cheesecake because it tastes like a dish sponge. The $35 upgrade steakhouse meal was excellent and is worth the price to try at least once. Their filet mignon/lobster tail meal was delicious. On the last day, the buffet and dining room started to run out of things and some types of beverages were no longer available.

Bartenders differed in skill and the same drink in the cafe could be way different in the lounge. If you are picky about your drinks, order premium brands because their well brands taste really harsh. My VIFP free drinks were well and we couldn't drink them they were so bad.

If you buy photos on the ship, check the back of them. Some off the racks have a thick security sticker on the back to prevent theft, but it won't lay flat in a frame and will eventually ruin the photo. Comedy shows were funny. There didn't seem to be as much entertainment or activities as I would have liked. I spent a lot of time lying on deck by the pool as there wasn't much else to do. Spa services were nice if a bit overpriced. The sauna and jacuzzi are free and were enjoyable. If you have a large group or children, this vacation may be great and affordable. If it's just you or a couple, you may want to consider upgrading. Overall, I think this was a fair vacation value.

Cabin Review

Balcony

An 8C balcony cabin has a small balcony which is just enough for two chairs and a table. The bed seemed queen size with end tables the size of shoe boxes and small lamps. Next to the bed, there was a small sofa across from a TV cabinet area. Bathroom was small and did not fit two people at a time unless one was in the shower. Had to leave the door open to unfog the mirror as there was no fan. The water in the shower would ocassionally give you a shot of hot or cold water for no reason then return to the set temp. There was good closet space, but very few hangers so the rest of your clothing has to sit on a shelf or go in a drawer. The TV operates on a satelite service which was often offline so you could only get the cruise channels. There is a small fridge under the TV but it is filled up with mini bar items so there is no room for any beverages you may have brought. The space is sufficient for two people who are willing to be in close quarters together.
