Our embarkation and debarkation were quick and painless. Everyone was great.
I booked the cruise through Carnival agent and explained what I wanted, quiet, slightly off the beaten path. Imagine our surprise when upon arriving to our room. We were more than disappointed that we were above the Lanai. We were even more disappointed to find that the agent booked our room directly above one of the clubs. So, no sleep until about 2-3 a.m. most night. However, this did help when we had prank calls two nights from unsupervised children on the ship at 1 and 2 a.m. because we were already up. Also, the room had some type of engine exhaust that filtered into the room three different mornings. This caused us to wake with headaches all three of those mornings and prop the balcony door open to air out the room.
The casino was great, the shows were great and our room steward was wonderful!! The Chef's Art Steakhouse was wonderful as well.
The lower dining room Scarlet not so crazy about. Our staff was overworked which in turn we paid the price for. We arrived at 6 p.m. at each sitting and did not get dessert and sometimes were rushed through entrees. We knew if we dined there that we would not get out until 8 p.m. each night. In fact, the lights were turned on/off to ask those in the dining room to leave because the 8 p.m. crowd was waiting. That's great for them, but we paid the penalty because our staff was overworked. First time ever this happened on a Carnival ship.
Both the dining and the engine exhaust problems were reported to the main Guest Services with the promise they would be taken care of, but nothing was ever done.
This was a graduation celebration for my daughter and we've cruised before both with Carnival and Norweigian. We were all greatly disappointed in the trip for the money and what was received.
