As first time cruisers we were not sure what to expect, but we had a very good time aboard the Sensation. The crew were all very friendly and helpful. I cannot think of one time were any of the crew got upset or acted rude.
Food: after reading some of the reviews, I wonder if we were on a different ship. Our food was very good. That doesn't mean we liked everything, but we had the chance to eat things we would never order or prepare ourselves. We had the early dining in Ecstasy Dining. I was a bit surprised by the way some people dressed, but the dining attire was listed as "Cruise Casual" for most nights. We didn't see anybody wearing tank tops, bathing suits, or cut off jeans. Casual doesn't mean the same to everybody and nobody seemed that upset over dress code. The service was great and the staff did a fun show near the end of our time every evening. The buffets were good, but if you got there when they opened you did wait. We just arrived later and the food was plentiful with no wait. The ice cream was more like ice milk (not much fat), but we enjoyed several every day. The room service was good. We ordered sandwiches and they came quickly.
Rooms: our room was a good size for us. Our daughter slept on a fold down bunk that she loved. We enjoyed seeing a new towel creation each night.
Entertainment: We really enjoyed the shows and other events. Curves was okay, but the Wed night show was wonderful. We enjoyed the trivia and games each evening in Fantasia, the Love and Marriage was very funny. Gabby and Marcello were very good hosts. We liked the family shows, but were happy to see they offered adult shows for those without children.
Camp Carnival: Some people complain about the children, but one day they well be parents and will understand. The camp was fun for our daughter. She met many kids and they had fun doing the camp events and also hung out together when not at camp. Our daughter and her friends swam mostly at night, but they did enjoy Water Works during the day. Some parents we talked with didn't know about the camp, but said they might do it next time. We enjoyed it, because we knew where our daughter was and we were free to see some of the shows she wasn't interested in.
Excursions: We did one in each port, but not through the ship. Paradise Cove in Freeport was a nice snorkeling adventure. We did a city tour and a little shopping in Nassua.
Overall: We had a very good time. We knew that there would be many different people with us from singles to honeymooners and even families. It is disappointing to read reviews from non-parents complaining about kids. There were many kids on the cruise and they were running all over the place, but they were not rude or noisy. Most people were friendly and seemed to be having a good time. We had a hard time getting to the pool during the day due to the young adults clinging to the board and sides with their drinks. We understood this was their vacation and we just went back later in the day.
We would recommend this cruise to others, but only if they are willing to accept the fact that not everybody on board is exactly like you. Relax and look at the good part, be willing to adapt as needed to enjoy yourself.
