Liberty is a lovely Ship in very good condition - this was the 3rd time we had sailed on her and standards were exactly what we expected - very good.
Travel to Barcelona from Scotland was a disaster - RCI booked the 4 of us onto KLM flights Edinburgh to Amesterdam then Barcelona. Pity they forgot to send all 4 Suitcases on the same flight.
We spent the first 3 days of the Cruise hoping for the return of our cases. heaven when they eventually appeared. Fair effort from Guest Services for giving us a T Shirt and a small overnight bag. This meant we spent an hour or two onboard shopping the first night, bit more shopping in Toulon and even more shopping in Villefranche including a trip to a Pharmacy to replace lost Epilepsy Meds. I can only carry 2 to 3 days in hand luggage for my daughter.
KLM you are dreadful, Customer Support non existant. never ever will I fly with you guys again. We missed formal nights because of you no hopers - thanks!
Embarkation in Barcelona was quick and easy although the RCI Rep in the airport had no idea we should be there - missed from his list - what a start we had to the cruise. Well organised, top notch.
Toulon - the Port was mainly closed on a Sunday - but needs must meant a shopping trip - hard going till we found a local market. A so so Port - looked more like a dumping place for old French Navy Warships. At night the ship was jumping as Spain won the Euro's and the footie was shown on the big screen poolside - great atmosphere.
Villefranche (Cote D'Azur) - far more classy, after shopping again, we took a trip on a local train, lovely way to see the town and get a bit of it's history. We liked the whole feeling of this place - quite classy.
Livorno - Spent the day in Livorno - was surprisingly impressed with this place - local market was very good, bands played to entertain everyone - well worth as visit.
Citavechia / Rome - Bad day for my daughter meant a day by the pool onboard, meds were struggling to work so no point risking a trip to Rome. Shame but there was nothing in the local area - it's Rome or bust.
Naples - loved it, we all went on a open top bus tour, this was situated right outside the Port, it took about 90 mins and you can swap bus to bus on 5 or 6 tours. First place where the looky looky men were out in force. Some lovely area's and views of the Ship out in the bay were tremendous. Very good value at 65 Euros for 3 Adults & 1 kid. far better value than RCI's own tours.
The Sea Day is rather hectic with nearly 4,000 passengers trying to find sunbed's 10 feet from the Pools - good entertainment watching the Pool Deck guys lift towels that had been placed for 30 mins or so and were untouched. The Ship put on a good variety of things to keep you entertained on the Sea Day.
Dining - Windjammer every night - well at the start we had no change of clothes and no formal outfits so avoided the Dining Rooms and to be honest we really enjoyed the Windjammer - the food was hotter than past cruises where we ate in the Main Dining Room.
negatives - we sailed Liberty at Xmas and the same shows were still being done onboard - the Mowtown night was good and so was the White Party - some people must have went a whole 2 hours without food until the buffet was opened on White night.
And I still love breakfast with Shrek n Fiona and King Julian. Less
