Ship Facts: Jewel of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Jewel of the Seas Deck Plans
Amazing cruise with the Jewel of the Seas
Our cruise with the Jewel of the Seas to the Norwegian Fjords, Shetland, Faroe Island and Iceland startet in June. This was my cruise number 20, but the first to the northern Europe.

At the airport in London we were met by representative of RCCL who showed us to the bus that would transport us to the port of Harwich. After approx. 2 hours time, we could finally see the Jewel of the Seas.

Check-in and boarding went quickly and smoothly, and when we were on board we went straight to the Windjammer for lunch. As usual there is a lot of people in the Windjammer the first day, but we quickly found a table and enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch was eaten, we went to check the cabins. They were on deck 9, and looked very good. Our cabin attendant from Philipins and India did a perfect job on the cruise. Stateroom was always neat, clean, new towel animals and always had a smile and kind words when we met them.

We were 6 people (family) from Norway on this cruise. In the diningroom we were fortunately awarded table together at a table for 6. The first evening when we arrived, we were very surprised that the assistant waiter was also from Norway. We have been on 20 cruises before, and usually it is only the captain who is a Norwegian on cruise ships. Assistant waiter Frode and our waiter from Philipins did an excellent job, and made meals in the diningroom highlight of day. The food was very varied and exquisite in the entire trip. Thank you for your excellent service, and we hope to meet you again on future cruises.

Ports of call we visited in Norway, Bergen, Flam and Geiranger, we have been before, so I do not use so much time on them.

It was the other places that were most exciting for us. In Shetland, we went around town, looking and shopping. A small charming town, with typical British buildings.

On the Faroe Islands we took a bus tour to see around the island. Fantastic scenery, with high volcanic mountains and great weather made ??the day perfect. Afterwards we walked around the little town before we got back on board. During the departure from the Faroe Islands, we sat in the Diamond Lounge in the Viking Crown, and it was an amazing experience.

In Iceland, we used the first day of the Blue Lagoon. The landscape around the Blue Lagoon looked like lunar landscapes, incredible. With the great weather we had in Iceland, it was a great experience to swim in the blue lagoon. Afterwards we were in Reykjavik and looked at several attractions there. We had 2 days in Reykjavik, and in the evening there was a midnight buffet on deck 11 by the pool. We had great food, midnight sun and music, a wonderful ending to a great day. The next day in Reykjavik, we used to shopping in the city center before leaving to the next stop Harwich, England.

We had fantastic weather the whole trip. Before we left, we had counted on a lot of clouds, low temperatures and maybe some rain. But we had sunny the entire trip, and no rain. We spent a surprising amount of time at the pool, and used mostly shorts and t-shirt on the entire trip at daytime.

Jewel of the Seas is a magnificent ship, with lots of glass for perfect views. The service on board was amazing all over. So I can really recommend a cruise on the Jewel, and I hope to get back on board of the Jewel in the future.
