Ship Facts: Ryndam Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Ryndam Deck Plans
Ryndam - a variable experience.
Embarkation: We drove to Dover & parked at the terminal, the whole process was efficient and the boarding of the ship was a smooth operation.

Ports: We particularly liked the overnight stay in Stockholm, this gave us a chance to see a lot more of this beautiful city.Saint Petersburg and Tallinn were also exceptional, however we do not understand why there was no shuttle buses available at Tallinn, shuttle buses were on hand for the Celebrity Constellation which was berthed next to our ship.

Dining: We were on the late sitting, table 47 and we had wonderful service from our stewards and our wine waiter Randy was excellent. The menus were superior to our last cruise with Celebrity and we enjoyed most of our meals in the MDR.We ate in the Pinnacle twice, the first meal was the Master Chef meal with wine to match each course, the second was the "Le Cirque" evening. The additional costs incurred with these reservations was definitely worth the expense. The food, wine and service was excellent and it made a birthday celebration a special occasion.

Cabin: This was our only fault with our cruise, the cabin was situated with a stairwell intruding into our cabin ceiling, this was cleaned at between 05:00 & 06:00,the noise was unbelievable and our cabin window actually had a hose pipe banging against it-sleep was impossible. Our complaints to the Front Desk were met with incredulity stating that the noise was emanating from a stateroom above us,however there are no staterooms above or below cabin 100!After being woken on four mornings we decided to go to the Front Desk on the fifth morning, this was at 05:07.We had to accompany an officer to show him where the noise was coming from and until we brought him into our cabin he believed that our cabin was the radio room.We were eventually compensated for the problem with our cabin,we would have been happy if our initial complaint had been addressed but the complacent response from the Front Desk inflamed the issue.

Overview: Although the ship is in need of refurbishment we liked the size and character of the ship.Despite our problems we have booked a future cruise with HAL and our overall impression of the Ryndam was positive. We would be happy to experience the Ryndam again in the future.
