Travelled with 3 children, 15, 14 & 10. It took a couple days for the kids to warm up to the idea of checking out the kids clubs...but by the end of the cruise they all had so much fun.
The Dawn is a beautiful ship. Just a few tips for families...waiting to embark and disembark was very long....be prepared to wait 2+ hours. Book shore excursions at least a month before you board (we booked 2 months before), but also be aware that they can be cancelled at any time. Our "Snorkeling with the Stingrays" was cancelled (we found out on day 1 of the cruise) and it was too late to book the Dolphin excursion.
I was worried about acceptable attire for teens...no problem! In the dining rooms cords or khakis are great for teen boys...and nice flip flops are great for teen girls to wear. Be aware the pool area is extremely crowded and you must be up early to even get a beach chair remotely close to the pool. The pool is also very small. No one under 18 is allowed in the spa pool which is indoors, or in the fitness room. The arcade is terrific, but be aware you pay at your own expense. The Chocolate buffet is out of this world, but the line up to get in was almost from one end of the ship to the other. It is for 2 hrs only on 1 day of the cruise and you should be there at least 1 hr early to start lining up.
