Embarked at Barcelona (having stayed in the city for two days prior to cruise)a pain free, smooth process. Picked up a glass of champagne and wandered through the ship overwhelmed by the size and beauty of the Celebrity Solstice. What followed was a truly fantastic 12 nights/13 days of bliss. The service was excellent, food fabulous, ship amazing. Cannot fault our first cruise at all. Thank you Celebrity! A brilliant Stateroom 8228. Lovely Balcony - not overlooked by anyone. Great uninterrupted views. Dining was an amazing experience. Waiters fabulous. Professional at all times. Food was amazing in all restaurants. Entertainment. Plenty of entertainment available to either take part in or not. If you want to relax you can or if you want to cram in as much activity you can. Something for everyone. The shows are great with two chances to see them each night. Something different every day. Staff: All staff on board are great. Professional, fun, helpful - even the Senior Captains and the Captain got involved in activities. Overall this was a fabulous holiday. For our first cruise it was perfect and will definitely sail again with Celebrity. Pure luxury!

Cabin review: Deluxe Veranda

1A8228
8228 - right near the lift in mid ship. Great place to be. No noise at all from people coming and going from the lift. Great to be centre of the ship. Stateroom itself was compact but perfect. This stateroom has uninterrupted views out to see and not overlooked. To sit out and watch the world go by is just perfect. A balcony is a must have. 8228 is port side so great views when sailing into destinations. Would recommend this stateroom but did not see other staterooms so cannot compare.

Port and Shore Excursions

Port
Very pretty place but very touristy. Again we did our own thing rather than ships excursion. Best way to see this Island is to take a boat trip around the island and stop off at deserted coves and beaches. Worth a visit.

Easy to get a train to Florence and/or Pisa. We chose this option rather than the many excursions offered by Celebrity. Florence and Pisa are both worth visiting.
Port
Pretty place - one of my favourite places on this cruise. Worth a visit.

This is actually Ville Frainche that the boat stops at and access to Ville Frainche by Tender. Easy process, get a ticket (free) get on boat and off you go. Ville Frainche is pretty - lovely restaurants a lovely beach. Worth a visit.

Docked in Civitaveccia and we made our own way by train to Rome. Very easy as station is very close to where the boat docks. Rome very busy and extremely hot in July. Loved it though - a great city and really worth a visit.
Walking Tour
Lovely place to stop. Beaches and small historic town. Brilliant tour guide on our walking tour. Well worth booking a tour guide. Took us to the palace. Another favourite stop on this brilliant cruise.
Port
Great experience sailing into Venice. We docked overnight so had plenty of time to explore. Again we did out own thing rather than a planned excursion. A must see on a cruise!
