My 19-year old daughter and I took a cruise to celebrate my 52nd birthday. We take a summer trip together and generally choose a cruise but have also been on a few driving trips to Key West as well. We have loved each cruise we have been on, with the exception of this one.

For those who have not sailed out of Miami before, beware, it is a different world. Being from the midwest, we are accustomed to people at least being civil toward one another. In Miami, people tend to be very rude and in a hurry. Even at the Intercontinental Hotel where we stayed, not only did other guests not hold the door open for one another, hotel employees didn't either. We couldn't wait to get out of MIami and onto the Valor! What we found is the same nasty people from Miami were also on the ship.

People onboard were hurried, pushy and lacked manners. Approaching people in a hallway on the ship was like playing a game of chicken. No chivalry whatsoever. In speaking with a few guests onboard, they felt the way we did -- that this would be the last Carnival sailing and the last sailing out of Miami.

Cabin 8D

We researched our cabin (8309) before choosing it. It was reported to be in a quiet area. It was extremely loud. I would not book any room on the 8th floor of the Valor because the pools and movie screen are on the 9th floor.
