Cruised July 11-18, 2012, from Louisville to Pittsburgh up the Ohio River on the American Queen paddle wheel steamboat. If you're looking to experience a relaxing, luxurious, historic and nostalgic cruise, you must try the American Queen. This is a small vessel by ocean going standards, but has a classic comfortable character and a certain "feel" that is lacking in the larger ships. The food was exquisite, the service professional, the hop on/hop off excursions well planned, the riverlorian talks informative and the entertainment (on this cruise, The Lovin Spoonful, BJ Thomas, Memphis Suns, 'Mark Twain and the ship's entertainers) fantastic. The front porch is a great place to visit, relax on the rocking chairs and porch swings while watching the river go by or enjoy morning coffee, ice cream, a snack or light meal. The American Queen is well worth the money and a part of Americana that should not be missed. My congratulations to the Great American Steamboat Company. Can't wait More to do it again.

Cabins are very comfortable (we had one that opened onto a deck with chairs) with great beds, flat screen TV, quality toiletries and ample storage.

JM White dining room has that classic old time feel and the food and selection very good. At breakfast and lunch there was a buffet and a menu in which to order.

Daily activities, entertainment and excursions were excellent and more than enough to keep you busy if desired.

Fellow passengers well seasoned, interesting and friendly and many were repeat customers on river cruises. Laid back feel on this boat. Less
