After reading a zillion average reviews of this cruise online we were in for a suprise! Our whole cruising experience was really tooo good to be true. The ship is small but comfortable, the food was delicious especially in the formal dining room each night and the crew was remarkably alert, efficient, friendly and super helpful. The cleanliness on board the ship was stellar as was the entertainment and the public areas in the ship. My 9 year old son enjoyed the adventure ocean program a lot... The people in charge did a good job as he was thrilled with whatever they did there each day.
The pool area used to be really crowded but then there's a choice one has of either swimming in the solarium or the outside pool area. Embarkation and disembarkation was smooth... with no glitch what so ever. We are vegetarians and the staff did make an extra effort to serve us what we could eat. Thank you so much. The deserts on board can rival the best patisseries anywhere in the world. The More
menu had its bit for everyone: sugarfree for the heath conscious, vegetarian for the vegans, italian for the most loved cusine of the world i guess and lovely wines suggested to compliment each food each day. Loved how they served the deserts with a shot of coffee.
Also There was a lot going on, on the ship at different times of the day and night. Lots for everyone to do. With the ports of call being so exciting there was a lot one can do in a day on port and onboard the ship.... really loved everything about the whole experience. Before boarding on each port, they had cold water being served to us just before we board which was really nice. Attention to detail was very good.
The shows were lovely especially dancing thru the movies. great foot tapping music.Really enjoyed the shows. Our room attendant was very friendly and super helpful. My son adored the towel animals he put in our cabin almost each night. Thank you so much for the effort. The room service was prompt and efficient. Please do try the pizzas. They are yummy! Our cabin was so comfy and the ship so smooth that each morning we used to get up to notice that we had already docked on the port! No sensation of movement at all. The flat tv in the room had limited but sufficient channels. No ipad in the room yet but we didnt seem to miss that at all.
The onboard photographer was very cheerful and always ready to click us at any given time. The captains dinner was very well planned and the suprise of the champagne glass was nice. The shops onboard did truly have a better deal than a lot of stuff on port or land. Picked up a few knicknacks from there. We were so happy with our experience that we cant wait to board our next cruise which will hopefully be the Royal Caribbean. Very very impressed! Less
Our cabin on the 2nd floor was very peaceful and quiet because it was away from the centrum and the restaurants which can get very noisy and disturbing during the peak hours. Our cabin was also near the elevators which was a blessing as in a jiffy we could get in and out of the room.
There is ample storage space in the room. Our huge suitcases were stored properly in the cabin without any problem. The cabins also have enough drawer space to keep things and a closet to hang all the suits and dresses.
The bustling metropolis which made us more nervous after reading the reviews of errant taxi drivers and thieves. We managed to book a taxi which picked us up at the port dot on time. We were running late yet he very patiently waited for us as we made our way into the arrival terminal. He dropped us at the base of the Acropolis Hill and gave us a map to help us wander about town before picking us up at the Monastiraki (shopping area). The climb to the Acropolis is very easy. The steps are almost flat and very easy to climb up. The view enroute and from the top is fablous. The stones are all marble up there hence it tends to get a bit slippery. There is a water spout at the southern end of the Acropolis which is a relief in the heat. We went there at 11am and because of the cool breeze were not baked under the greek sun.
After the Acropolis we took the small red train which took us all around to the Parliament building, Temple of Zeus, The first olympic stadium, the Plaka area to name the highlights. We got off at the Olympic stadium and took they tour with the headphones. Was amazing and incredible to see all of it especially the cave in it. The temple of Zeus is a free visit if you have the Acropolis entry ticket. Its huge and impressive. After a bit of shopping in the Plaka and Monastiraki district we bundled up back in our taxi to be dropped off at the cruise terminal dot on time.
Landed in Bari on a Sunday with everything being closed. We took the shuttle bus for $10 each to the city centre and from there took the small tourist train to see the old town. After walking through the by lanes and seeing the myraid churches and eating gelatos, we were dropped back to the drop off point after which we did a little souvenir shopping and wandered around the empty sunday roads.
A few shops were open which seemed to be doing brisk business. It was very hot and humid. All in all a decent Italian town which would have been booming with life had it been for any other day of the week.
Once again took the shuttle bus into town. Its the best thing to do as in limited time its difficult to figure out where one has to go and how. We got dropped of right at the entrance of the Old Fort. Decided to climb that first thing else the sun wouldnt allow us to do so.
The views from up there are spectacular. Really worth the climb. The Fort has a nice restaurant too and a lovely museum shop. After that we walked right across to the old shopping walking district. Managed to do a bit of souvenir shopping and walked around the town for a good 2 hours before heading back to the cruise ship
The walled city of Dubrovnik was absolutely stunning. Once again we took the shuttle bus into the city centre and from there wandered around the old town by foot. We climbed and walked the whole old city walls which is a bit of stairs and a fair bit of steep climb too... gave us an amazing over the top view of the city.
Croatia is beautiful. We also took a boat trip onto the clear blue waters to have better views of the city. It was very hot and we had our hats and sunglasses to protect us from the scorching heat. Picked up a few souvenirs on the way back to the shuttle bus. The ice creams were delicious. Have to go back to this city as didnt get our fill of it.
Our ship tendered, we were taken in small boats onto the lovely island of Mykonos. The white, blue and pink scenes stole our hearts. We straight away walked to the white windmills taking the winding white paths around town. The Little Venice area of Mykonos has the most stunning views of the area. After that we took the local bus to Paradise beach which was gorgeous.
The music playing, people sunbathing, the blue chilled sea and the sun shining down on us. It truly is surreal. The local buses tend to get very crowded but are on time and regular. On coming back into town we wandered around the streets and picked up a few souvenirs before waiting to see the famous Mykonos sunset. This was our favorite port in this itinerary. We plan to visit Mykonos again to stay there and spend a few idyllic days in that gorgeous town.
