This was our first cruise(my wife and I) and we decided to go with Carnival due to their better rates(compared to Royal Caribbean)and boy are we glad we did.Not only did we save a good amount of money but we also had the time of our lives. Embarkation was pretty smooth since we live in Tampa and all that was evolved was my Brother in Law dropping us off at the port and checking in(which was painless BTW). Once we where on the boat it was like a dream for 7 days but all was not perfect. I want to focus on the positive first and end with a few negatives we encountered on our trip.

When it comes to the size of the boat I found the Legend being a perfect size for a first time cruiser. Its not too small that you feel crowded and packed in but its not toooo big that you are just walking endlessly from end to end looking for the dining room. The boat is laid out nice and pretty. It was very clean and the decor did not offend me unlike some of the negative "reviewers"( I will get to them in a few). We got a room with a balcony and I will tell you right now, THAT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU SHOULD EVER CRUISE!!! The views my wife and I saw while seating in our balcony was just priceless! The endless blue sea with its white caps, the pitch black nights with the roar of the ocean in the background with bright stars above to the small islands we passed by were just amazing to behold. Our room was surprising big and very, very clean but the bathroom was on the small side.

The buffet and dining room where very well maintained. The food was well, cruise food. I will unfortunately get into more detail in my negative section but overall it was not as bad as some want you to believe. There was plenty of activities though out the day that you are never bored. I guess that's why Carnival is known as the Fun Ships and boy did we have some fun! Now let me get into some of the negative things I did not like. Let me start with something I already teased, the food. The food on the most part was just okay with a few good stuff here and there in the buffet section but what really disappointed me was the late dining. Out of the 7 day of the cruise I could only remember maybe 2 good meals and the rest was just meah. We did try out some cool food we never had before like shark and alligator but it was not enough to turn around the overall unremarkable food we had .
