Just off Summit sailed July 8th. Wonderful experience. Room 1117 Aquaclass worth the extra price!! Room was on eleventh floor, quiet and noise and smell free. Nice balcony and amenities. Blu dining room was wonderful with great food, and if you didn't like the menu you could prefer from the main dining room. Only criticism is that the food was not always served HOT but warm or even. Cool. This was a big issue for my DH and he often sent food back to be redone. The maitre 'd was Nicholas, a conscientious young man from South Africa. He was highly concerned about everything going well and the guests being happy. Staff in dining room were friendly. Deuce tables in blu are too close together while they had some lovely half circle tables that were perfect for an Intimate dinner. Dining room was quiet . The longest we waited for a table on some nights was five minutes and most nights and mornings...no wait. Breakfasts were wonderful as well with smoothies and tableside prep of muesli as well as the traditional offerings.
Ocean view grill food was good. We enjoyed fresh sushi each evening, taking it to our balcony to enjoy with a cocktail . Celebrity allows two bottles of wine to be taken aboard to be consumed I the cabin with no corkage fee. The corkage fee is a hefty twenty five dollars if you take your own bottle to the dining room..ridiculous!!!
Went to a few shows...go to first night show to see a bit of each days offerings. We enjoyed the Up till Two A Capella group..talented and funny as well. Nestor plays amazing songs on his guitar throughout the ship with a more Latin flair but is amazing with his. Rendition of What a Wonderful world. The comedian was funny with appropriate jokes for the cruising atmosphere. The party band fusion was excellent as well. Do not miss the Crew talent show...they were amazing and should be used in the cast instead do cleaning and serving!!!
Embarkation was easy and we arrived after the crowds aroud three..luggage arrived at or room about one hour later. Deebarkation was terrible for Aquaclass. We were sent a Letter saying we would have a private lounge with coffee and pastries as we awaited our number. They had us in Michaels club lounge which was so small and hot that many guests had to sit on the floor in the hallway or out on the smelly deck and check back frequently to see if their number was called. Not they way celebrity should end a. Wonderful cruise!!!!!
Bermuda was the nicest island I have ever been on. Buy the three day transportation ticket. Which includes the ferry and uses. The bus drivers are wonderful and all you have to do is ask for a nice beach or point do interest and. They will be sure you arrive and return safely. No need to use the ship excursions at a great expense . The botanical gardens are free and beautiful. Horseshoe bay is also free with nice bathhouse and rental chairs and umbrellas. Crystal caves were worth the price as well. Swizzle Inn overrated..expensive drinks and watered Down. A small pitcher of rum swizzle that is seventy five percent ice is twenty five dollars!!!!!!!! Do not go there!!
The summit's public areas are lovely but I feel the ship atmosphere is geared more for the older crowd even though there were a few families who seemingly had a good time. I did not experiences groups of drunken teenagers running through the ship rather a small group was seen two nights hanging put by the pizza station having appropriate fun. Being a high school teacher they seemed appropriate in their behavior throughout the cruise.
We did the galley tour was was great fun and very enlightening. The offerings of the Normandie and Quisine were displayed at the end do the tour so we got to see what people were getting for the extra forty dollars per head should they choose to dine in one of these speciality restaurants...we did not as the food in Blue was special enough for us! We also attended a chefs demonstration one morning and that was fun will gourmet samples given out to all the guests,. I got some great ideas from the presentations.
The Casino was fun but not what we are accustomed to being from CT with the big Indian casinos. There were penny slots but we were discouraged to observe attendants Messing(programming) some machine to not pay put more that two thousand dollars..how can they do that???? We won some and lost some but came out about even. The roulette tables are not run to the usual standards with the staff ignoring guest who hang over and even touch the wheel. One table did not have the have the number display Sign over the table indicating which numbers were frequently
Called or the last number won. No comp drinks while playing.
Officers were everywhere being friendly to guests. This made us feel comfortable that they had a pulse on what was occurring to and with the guests.
In the end we loved cruising with celebrity and enjoyed all the offerings we decided to participate in. I would recommend this cruise to guests ages 50 and older who want to relax, rekindle and enjoy what the cruise line has to offer. We had a lot of fun and are looking forward to out next cruise with celebrity. We will definitely cruise Aquaclass again.
