Cruised from Bayonne, NJ 5/27/12 on Celebrity's Summit because we heard the ship was refurbished since we DO NOT travel on "older" cruise ships. What was refurbished is tastefully done, but the cabin bathrooms need help-dingy white needing a scrubbing. After 40 cruises, this was the 1st time I called housekeeping immediately upon arrival in the stateroom-the dust was over powering, carpet needed vacuuming & the shower curtain stunk so badly that keeping the bathroom door open while using the potty was the only option!
I even complained about the condition of our traveling companions cabin next door since it was their 1st Celebrity Cruise at our recommendation.
The housekeeping floor supervisor answered our call & assured us that everything would be perfect, even a brand new shower curtain. Our bathroom smelled like bleach/disinfectant for the next 4 days and the cabin was spotless but the cabin stewardess was very cool towards us the entire trip and conveniently forgot most daily paperwork.
MDR food was very good but our server, Atilla, was pre-occupied that he was leaving for home at the end of the cruise, while our ass't server was also leaving, he was perfect!
We always enjoy the adults only Solarium, this had a healthy food choice cafe for breakfast & lunch, the thassotherapy pool and quieter music.
Entertainent was quite good, the acapela group was great, Michele Balan a riot & cruise director, Susan Denning exceptional. Captain Theo was very approachable, personable and very funny plus you could understand his English.
