Excellent flight from Manchester to Venice with Monarch, not so going home. Flight was due to leave Venice at 1.40pm but was late taking off by 2 hours and the plane made an emergency landing at Frankfurt because of a technical fault. Arrived back in Manchester at 8pm.
Embarkation was by ticket numbers, had to wait about 30 minutes to clear security.
The ship was nice enough but the cabin was the smallest balcony cabin we have ever experienced on any cruise. The bathroom was pathetic, knees touching the walls in the toilet. The toiletries consisted of lavender hand wash and shampoo.
Our steward was Orlando, kept the cabin clean and tidy, provided extra towels and pillows as there were 4 adults in the cabin, parents, daughter and granddaughter age 15, topped up the tea and coffee facilities every day.
The entertainment in the theatre consisted of juggling acts, acrobats and very amateur singers, however the last show was excellent. The main source of entertainment was a disco in the Spinnaker Lounge each night which was overrun by kids and teenagers.
The food offered in the Grand Pacific and Alizar restaurants was excellent however the Garden cafe has limited choice, mainly fast food. Not very appetizing The Blue Lagoon cafe had a limited menu which was very good, once or twice during the week, it was nice to be waited on and the staff were very friendly and obliging.
The main problem with this cruise was the fact that it was overrun with hundreds of children, not that polite or well behaved, very noisy, pressing lift buttons and running around out of control
Will not sail on Jade again, back to RCL or P&O which offers far better value for money, including the type of guests on board, food, entertainment and accommodation.
