Another great cruise with Celebrity

Sail Date: June 2012
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

Embarkation was amazingly easy. We'd booked transfer service with RomeLimousinePlus for 22 euro each for a group of 8. Francesca, our driver, was ontime and professional. We arrived at Civitavecchia around 11:15, had lunch in the empty Oceanview Cafe, and were able to enter our staterooms around 1:30.

We booked a CC gty. The room size is the same as all veranda cabins on Solstice class ships, but the CC amenities include large towels, a bottle of sparkling wine on embarkation, afternoon canapes (we requested a cheese plate instead, and were pleased as not only cheese was presented, but grapes, pecans and dried apricots) and fresh flowers. The extra credit we received for this cabin category will bump us to select. Our room attendant Arnel and his assitant were excellent. We were portside on deck 10 and could see the bridge from our veranda. I liked that we had no lifeboats below us.

We tried Select dining for the 1st time. Would not choose this option again as More having a consistent waitstaff who learn your preferences and cater to them is a major advantage to set dining, imho.

Ship's officers were so friendly and accessible- had a great conversation with Tom Brady, and I thought that Paul, our cruise director, was the best we've had yet. Also, Debra, the events coordinator, went out of her way to reschedule our connections gatheting from 8pm on Day 2 to 11 am on our first sea day. When our Mykonos day became a seaday, staff accommodated my husband' request to hold a Catholic service, publicized it and provided a meeting room. The subject of food is subjective, but there was only one main dining room meal that wasn't as good as it could have been. However, when you consider that food is being prepared for 2000 people, it is unreasonable to compare the quality and caliber of meal or dish to those ordered in restaurants at home. Kudos to Celebrity for the MDR offerings. Escargot returned mid-cruise- YAY! The Lawn club grill is a fun experience and the meats are fork tender.

We took only one Celeb excursion. Private tours are the way to go, and our experiences with SicilyLimousineService, APTours in Naples, and Taner from Kagan Kosagen in Ephesus were outstanding.

Entertainment was typical. Had lots of fun as a participant in the Celebrity Life Family Feud show along with the other members of my 'Baklava' family- a honeymoon couple from Hong Kong and my roll call friend Quanmama & her husband Tony.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this cruise was meeting so many of the members of our very active roll call, socializing and touring together. Less
