This was our forts cruise with P&O so we had no real expectations which me4ant we were able to relax and go with the flow so to speak.
Embarkation was allegedly staggered but there was a short queue to embark but all in all a very smooth process and we were able to access our cabin after lunch in the Horizon court.
Service in general aboard was very good although it took us a whole to adjust to the less intrusive style of service after our experiences with Princess. The cabin was always immaculately kept and the ship was constantly being cleaned-this may have been due to the special event today but I would like to think not.
The vast majority of staff were pleasant and helpful and there was a full range of activities to enjoy if you had the inclination or energy to do so.
The entertainment, in particular the headliners theatre group were very good and we saw almost all of their shows-a very high standard.
There were guest speakers, singers and a magician. The entertainment was timed so that you could attend a pre- dinner and an after dinner show if you wished.
We had the later fixed dining option which was of a good standard, the vegetable choices were sometimes a little random in terms of the main course s, but that only added to the conversation over dinner with fellow diners.
We did venture to the Cafe jardin for a special occasion and as MPW was on board towards the end of the week we expected it to feel special. It was a real disappointment, a view which although personal was not in isolation amongst others we spoke to.
All in all we really enjoyed the cruise and the ports were interesting and varied, the company at dinner engaging and we would book again in a heartbeat. Disembarkation was smooth and efficient and we were in our car and driving away within 10 minutes of leaving the ship.
