Ship Facts: Norwegian Jade Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Norwegian Jade Deck Plans
Not Impressed by NCL Jade
We did the Greek Islands, and the trips ashore were the best part of this cruise.

The freestyle dining was like Butlins at peak times, with tables unobtainable and the food, whilst vast in choice, not tasting as good as it looked.

If you ate in the Main Dining Rooms, you got average/poor service from disinterested staff serving lukewarm food, and (as a previous reviewer said) sometimes confusing orders or taking well over an hour to get you to your sweet course. Speciality restaurants stick on a cover charge (if you want to avoid the tepid MDR fare,) in oreder to ensure that they get their hands on as much of your bank balance as possible.

The cabin was very basic - no coffee maker, no room around the bed and a large bunk fastened to the wall which obstructed the side of the bed. Tiny wc compartment, small shower cubicle and a wash basin seperating them.We found the bed to be ok, but we asked for soft pillows and these arrived after two nights.Very old fashioned tiny tv and no reading lights at the side of the bed.

The top decks filled with all sunbeds occupied early on, and the pools were tiny and congested. The entertainment staff did their best to drum up enthusiasm during the "sailaways", when waiters hovvered around trying to sell you cocktails, and the ships photographers ambush you at every opportunity.

Drinks are very expensive as they not only charge you over the top (after all you're a captive audience and you take it or leave it) but they add on 15% gratuity charge - NCL should stand for "Never Charge Less".

The Library is very nice and comfortable but its near the top deck and you get to hear all the loud music there.

I wasn't impressed with the daytime entertainment - Art Sales, Colombian Emerald sales, Watch sales, Bingo, Bridge, Doris's Friends Meet in Room # ?? Georges Friends Meet in the Chapel ? What's all that about ?

Nightime entertainment had its better moments but nothing much stood out as outstanding. No Tribute Acts, no comedians (unless you include the Cruise Director who was selling his autobiography). If your bag is gambling they'll teach you how to lose your money in the casino in one easy lesson.

Internet is an absolute rip-off and overall I was glad to disembark after seven nights of being on this cruise. I won't be booking NCL again.
