Already booked in for cruise #2

Sail Date: April 2012
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Miami

We decided to fly into Ft. Lauderdale & spend a day there & do the limo splurge to the Port in Miami the following day.

When we arrived at the Port we were both amazed at how big the Sky was as it being our 1st cruise & this close to a ship her size. There was a lot of people all heading in to fill out the health forms and thought the process was going to take at least and hour or more but we were both shocked when we went thru the process in a matter of 15 - 20 minutes tops and was on our way thru the ramp towards the ship. We were greeted by such friendly members of the staff that gave us directions to the dining room for lunch. The selection was fantastic and the service was amazing.

We had the inside cabin for our 1st cruise and figured either we'll love it or hate it. It was quite the shock when we 1st opened our cabin door to the tight quarters we had for the next few days but figured it was mainly for just showering and sleeping so we'd be fine. It was More manageable and easier than we thought. We did the dry cleaning option twice while on ship so that we didn't have to figure out where to put our dirty clothes. It was fantastic cause the nite before we left and was packing our luggage we only had 1 outfit each that was worn the day before & when we got home we just put away our clean clothes with no dreadful huge laundry pile we usually come home with.

I had a birthday cake ordered for my hubby and it was fantastic, fresh, & very tasty. We had to empty out the fridge to fit it in as we were not able to eat it all in one sitting lol

We ate at Cagney's, and the bistro for the specialty dining options and was totally blown away with the french cuisine. Our server was fantastic with his recommendations and when it came time for dessert he simply ordered the entire dessert menu for us and said you only live once... just try a sample of each. The choc fondue for 2 was my favourite and such a romantic way to end a classic dining experience. We did breakfast room service once and it was a limited menu so we did the rest of our breakfasts between the 2 dining rooms. Buffet is not really our main ideal for dining but on the final day we didn't have any other option & after the experience we wished we would have waited till we got to the airport. The food was cold, many of the selections we made we without flavour and was just not impressed. There was plenty of selections but just not for us. We did do the late nite snack at the buffet one evening as well but again not for us.

The Gloria Estefan tribute band was fantastic as was the comedian/juggling act. We participated in the Deal or No Deal game show and was not lucky enough to win anything but had fun. We visited the art auction, the jewelery info session and got a few great deals at Diamonds International, Tanzanite International & also found some amazing gold deals because of the information we gained from the info session & heads up on whom to speak with.

The Sky was immaculately kept and never had an issue at all with it being dirty or unkept. Our room was cleaned twice a day & our steward was fantastic with helping with any of my concerns.

For our excursions we did the Reef fishing and it was a lot of fun and gave us time to meet some new friends from all over the States & we were the only 2 from Canada but it was great and we all caught something!! We spent one day of just shopping shopping and more shopping in Nassau where we got deals galore with diamonds, tanzanite & gold. Did a horse/carriage ride around the island to relax and enjoy the view. Great Stirrup cay was fun and we got time to swing with some schools of fish & small reef sharks that happened to show up in the beach area but did not bother us at all. We also did the boat tour around the private island and learned alot about the construction taking place, held a sea slug, crab, & star fish which the tour guide found for everyone to touch. It was a very personable experience & the 2 tour guides were great & patient. We got some amazing photos of stingrays only a foot or 2 from us, reef pictures, and just amazing water shots.

There is so much more to tell regarding our vacation & how great of a time we had with the help of everyone on the Sky but this review would go on forever... you'll just have to try this ship for yourself and know you will be blown away with the customer service, hospitality, cuisine (especially the bistro & its romantic atmosphere), ease of getting on & off the ship & the memories you'll take away with you!!! You're truly missing out on a lot of amazing sightseeing opportunities if you just sit by the pool/beach & not venture off on some of the great excursion selections offered by the cruise line. Remember also its your vacation, don't sweat the small stuff & just enjoy the relaxation NCL has to offer!!!

***We loved it so much 2 days after we got home we booked in our Aft Penthouse Suite for another NCL Cruise April 7th 2013 to Honduras, Belize & Mexico.... join us for some fun in the sun!!!! See you there :D *** Less
