Radiance of the Seas 3

“Great ship but....”

We loved our cruise from Seward to Vancouver with a few exceptions. While the scenery was great,we tired of the continual charges for everything "extra" and believe me, almost everything is extra.

The ship itself looks great. We had a balcony room that was quite large. The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, people in cabins next to us smoked so we had to limit our balcony time when they were "enjoying" their cigarettes. The public areas of the ship were very well kept. I enjoyed the large well appointed lounges and dining rooms. Some lounges permitted smoking as well.

The meals that were included were okay. The best was lobster night and barbecue ribs and chicken for lunch on the last day. The rest were just okay. You want great food??? Buy a night at one of the four upscale restaurants. It appears to me they have down gauged the standard food offerings to entice you to spend money on the good restaurants. (We had one premium meal with our dinner theater More production. The food was fabulous - but we paid $49 per person to get it.)

Beer, wine, and drink prices were standard for any restaurant or resort. Happy hour?? Never. Full price plus 15% for every drink.

Workout for free, but attend a yoga session and be charged $12. Spa services are okay and they put the sell on you for more during your session.

We booked all our shore excursions through the Royal Caribbean website, but several people we talked to did not and had no problems getting independent tours once we landed at each port. I'm sure they paid less than we did as well.

So, bottom line, if you are looking for an all inclusive cruise experience, Royal Caribbean is not it. Less

Cabin review: Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Balcony room with comfortable bed, large sofa, dressing table, and enough closet and storage space for all our clothes. Bathroom is very small, but adequate. Dressing table made the small bathroom more usable for two people.Balcony was large enough for two chairs and a small table. Unfortunately, people around us smoked so balcony time had to limited when they were "enjoying" their cigarettes.
