After reading so many negative reviews on this ship, we almost didn't book it, but at the last minute decided to give it a shot. We flew into Seattle the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn across from the airport. The next morning we paid a towncar service to take us to Pier 91. Once there, we were met by a fast and efficient (and friendly) staff that got us thru the check-in process and onboard and up to our room, where our luggage was waiting.
Our room was very nice; king-sized bed, table, chair, loveseat, desk, tv,etc., and clean, as was the bathroom. We threw our carryon luggage down and went upstairs to the Lido Restaurant. No lines, and no waiting on a table. We had tons of different foods to choose from and made pigs of ourselves. (after all, isn't that what cruises are all about?) :) We enjoyed the Lido so much, that we ate most of our meals there. We did make reservations for the Vista dining room twice and enjoyed that as well. The Lido served much of the same foods that the dining room did, plus more. It was easy to keep going back and get more of what you really loved or try something else('til you were stuffed to the gill!) We also ordered room service breakfast every morning but one. They made this a VERY easy process-they put a menu card in your mailbox (outside of your door) and you just check off what you want and hang it on your doorknob. The next morning, at your picked out time frame, there it is! I think this was my favorite part of the cruise!!:) Our breakfasts were always on time and always hot.
We had a great time touring the ship and ducking into the lounges to see what was going on and maybe staying and participating or not. The shows were very entertaining (Joel Mason was SOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!!), as was our Cruise Director. Between the both of them, we did alot of laughing!
We enjoyed our days at port. At Juneau, we went to the Mendenhall Glacier, and did some shopping. At Sitka, we went out on our own to the totem pole forest and the raptor center. The forest was absolutely beautiful and the raptor center was very interesting and well worth the walk. At Ketchican, we stayed around the port area browsing and sightseeing. And at Victoria, it was cold and windy, so we did some shopping and went back to the ship.
During our time on the ship we also spotted many whales, eagles, and one bear. That was very exciting! We also went to the casino a few times, and won some money! The Crow's Nest was one of our favorite spots to sit and have a drink, there seemed to be someone playing a guitar and singing relaxing songs every time we went. And the view from the Crows Nest was AWESOME!
So, to all you naysayers out there, we are SOOO glad that we didn't turn down this cruise because of the negative remarks a few of you had. This was the trip of a lifetime for us and we definitely would recommend it to any and everyone! We hope to someday go again.
