Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
Relaxing Weekend Break
This was a much needed short weekend break and having cruised a number of times previously this was our first trip with RCL. We booked last minute and so we didn't get the cheapest deal and took what cabin was left which meant this was also our first time in an inside cabin.

We live in Orlando so a short trip to the Port is an easy drive for us. We had booked to stay at the Doubletree Cocoa beach on our return so left our car there and took a cab to the port. From arrival to being on the ship was as usual at Port Canaveral very easy. I love cruising from here, staff are polite and organized. We arrived at approx 1pm and took about 30 mins to check in and get on board.

Headed straight to the Windjammer for lunch as expected it was crowded but we found a seat easily enough and enjoyed a pretty tasty lunch. DH signed up for the soda package and for $20ish bucks got a travel mug and unlimited soda, a great choice (I stuck to cocktails - wish they gave those all you can drink in a travel mug!) So I had read many reviews on here and knew what to expect of the cabins. Yes they really are that tiny but really it was fine. Clean (ish) and perfectly adequate.

Main dining room was nice we did traditional dining, late seating, table for 2, perfect. Service was good, food, OK but portions a bit light but it was never any trouble if you wanted to try more than 1 thing.

Had a spa special and it was fantastic would highly recommend. Ship is old but still looks just fine if a little dated but this is a 3 day cruise that frankly you can pick up at a steal. Shows were just OK and the comedian was hilarious.

We didn't leave the ship in Nassau as we'd been several times before and stayed on board at CoCo Cay too (living in FL we have so many wonderful beaches nearby) enjoyed the quiet ship and had a few more cocktails. Now I had the pizza once and thought it was actually quite good (Mexican Pizza) but have read others didn't, the one I had was fresh made maybe that was the difference.

Overall we felt like we'd been away for a week, thoroughly relaxed and have booked for another weekend in August! Also booked for the same cruise next Memorial weekend when the renovated Enchantment takes over.

Good value for money weekend break, don't expect the Oasis and you won't be disappointed!
