On the cruise, five family members celebrated several milestone events: 50th wedding anniversary for Joyce and Chris, 25th anniversary for Beth and Jim, and high school graduation with honors for Rebecca. This cruise began in Prague and ended in Berlin. The sights seen on this cruise provide an educational and beneficial glimpse of European lifestyles, both from ancient Slavic history and the post-WWII era.
The travel experience provided by Viking River Cruises was outstanding; better service could not have been asked for. We did not have a single travel-related worry. Our flights were organized and coordinated through Viking- once the luggage left our hands at JFK Airport in New York, we did not have to worry about it again. The knowledgeable Viking staff handled it. Once we landed in Prague, we were brought to our hotel and were given a great recommendation for dinner. The staff warmly greeted us at the hotel. The following morning we went on a tour of Prague. Throughout More
the trip, each tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The tours were not rushed; each traveler was given a chance to ask questions and learn more about each site we visited. The touring experience provided by Viking was second to none.
The embarkation of the ship went smoothly and quickly. Once we were on the ship, we were well taken care of. Several times a day, the maitre d' announced upcoming events, like dinner, disembarking tours, or an educational lecture going on in the lounge. This service allowed travelers to decide what they wanted to do--no one was left in the dark. We all knew what was happening on the ship and what tours were being offered.
Since many of our meals were on the ship, the food was a very important part of the cruise. The choices of meals and the buffet-style breakfast was exquisite. Everyone was always happily satisfied with the meals; we always left dinner full. The wait staff was accommodating, friendly, and informative. The staff on the ship went above and beyond expectations to please all the travelers. Drinks were served promptly and with flair each time they were ordered. Our group became good friends with the bartender on the ship. The service was top shelf, the best in the business.
I feel that Viking River Cruises offers a comfortable, stylish, and intriguing way to see Europe. I would recommend Viking River Cruises to anyone looking to explore Europe in a personal manner, meaning that each traveler is handled and treated like a person, not just another customer. Overall, I would rate Viking River Cruises a definite 10 out of 10! Less
Prague, the oldest city in Europe, was very interesting. The tour guide from Viking highlighted several points of interest both ancient and modern in the city. The accommodations were luxurious and located close to the attractions in the city. The tour of Prague included the Powder Gate and the Astronomical Clock. We especially enjoyed the time we were allotted to explore the city, eat, and shop.
