Expectations not met

Sail Date: June 2012
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

Embarkation was very, very slow from the start. No champagne cocktail waiting for you after the ordeal.

The ship was very clean and had some very beautiful spots. I loved the ESPN bar which was in the promenade deck not hidden away as it is on other ships. The entertainment was ongoing and they had a variety of musicians that played throughout the day.

I had read the reviews prior to boarding and kept a positive attitude since I had always truly enjoyed sailing with Carnival. Unfortunately, the dining experience (in the dining room) was a daily let down. The lido deck food was always good especially lunch. The breads were baked fresh and the variety was amazing. The dining room was another story. We always look forward to having dinner together as a family and even though we were together we could not enjoy our dinner. The food was always cold and there was something missing that we had to wait for. In addition, there was no spunk or happy vacation feeling to the More dining room. Not once did the Maitre'D greet us.

Everything else on the ship was like every other Carnival ship I have been on. Cruising is my favorite way to travel and I have been on a lot of cruises so there were no surprises there ! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Liberty Balcony Panorama 1031

Our cabin was in the perfect location. Not noisy at all and a short one floor away from the action on the LIDO deck.

Port and Shore Excursions

If you want noise and are willing to pay for it stay at the Margaritaville pool drinks are about $15.00 and beers are $7.00. If you walk on the beach and pass the line that separates the cruise line area you can find great local food like conch fritters 4 for $2.00, beers for $3.50 and drinks fro $4.00. This area is much quieter it just depnds on what you want. Loved how the cruise ship just pulls up to the beach AMAZING ! Beach is nice.

Great port for shopping and sightseeing. Free trolley parks right across the street from where the ships docks and takes you to all the special spots. Walking around you can find great food trucks and try the local food "bacalaitos" are great cod fritters they are huge and cost $1.00. Take the ferry across for .50 and take a taxi for $3.00 and you are at the Bacardi Factory . Free tour and free drinks !

Cookie beach is local beach take your own cooler with your own ice and drinks makes for a really cheap and fun day. Shopping is great but you have to dedicate time to it.
