Embarkation was quite efficient, however once on board the vessel, there were so many people getting on at once that it seemed quite overcrowded. We had travelled on the Inspiration 4 day cruise a little over a week prior to this one and that was much more relaxed.
We found our cabin and we were very happy with the size and layout of the cabin and the wonderful huge deck that we had. The bathroom seemed smaller than the Inspiration, but it was more than adequate for our needs.
It was wonderful to be able to be away from the crowds as we departed Long Beach, our friends gathering on our deck to see us off.
The food was pretty good actually, however, there were times that there were massive queues for anything (most notably at lunchtime when we were at sea) and we had to wait quite a while for our meals.
It felt as if they had packed a few too many people on board this particular vessel at times like this. It wasn't particularly relaxing.
One more thing that certainly did not help with relaxation were the number of children on board this particular sailing. They announced at the beginning of the cruise that over 1000 of the passengers were under 17- oh joy. Some were loud, obnoxious and well, kids being kids when they aren't being too well supervised. Not a trip to take for a romantic getaway.
We sampled the Pinnacle steakhouse and enjoyed it so much we actually went back a second time, mostly it was a getaway from the crowds at dinner and the food was exceptional.
Some of the crew were excellent, our drinks server at dinner Wayan and Diana in Guest services stood out amongst the staff that helped us
As with the cruise on the Inspiration, there seemed to be a paucity of good entertainment on the vessel. We did not sample the shows in the evening so cannot comment on the standard of that entertainment, I am more referring to the daytime entertainment when we were at sea.
Carnival seems to be a company that is heavily interested in taking as much money from you as possible for the duration of the voyage. I'm sure all the cruise companies are but Carnival is pretty obvious about it. Each Tv channel has a Carnival advertising channel in between the next channel you are looking for. A lot of the ten top things to do in a day involved you forking our your hard earned cash for something or other. It got a bit old towards the end of the journey.
Cabo was beautiful and we did the sail, beach and shop excursion which I would highly recommend apart from the mall you are taken to for the shopping, We were given 45 mins to shop and this was 35 mins too long.
All in all a pretty average cruise overall.
It's funny, we were thinking the Inspiration would be the lesser cruise, but it proved the opposite.
