Great Italian Hospitatilty

Sail Date: June 2012
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

We booked this cruise 10 days before departure from the UK. We had been recommended MSC by people we had met on a previous cruise.
We boarded the ship at Barcelona, an easy transfer from the airport, 30 euros in a taxi , or you can take a train and then a taxi to the port.
Check in was easy,in groups, then you boarded the ship.
First impressions, its amazing ! Very palatial and its enormous !
When you board, you are shown individually to your stateroom ! Our cabin was excellent, large , beautifully appointed, colour schemes were chocolate brown and burnt orange colours. The cabin is well appointed, a nice sofa , coffee table, LCD TV , great shower room, very powerful shower and nice toiletries.
Bathrobes were provided, a nice touch, some ships you have to fight for these !
Our balcony was massive , we were on a corner , furnished with table and 2 chairs.
The whole ship is very impressive, very glitzy, loads of cosy bars, all with some form of More entertainment, singers, particularly good in the wine bar ! Some bars had pianists, others had a trio...all very good !
Deck space is excellent, even on the sea day, plenty of sunbeds available !
Pool towels plentiful and you can change often as you like.
Pools onboard, were a nice temperature as were the hot tubs . Gym was superb and always had plenty of space to workout .
The spa is beautiful , well appointed, lovely thermal suite, but as usual, treatments onboard , very expensive !
The buffet runs an entire deck, personally, we are not fans of buffets, due to hecticness of them, this was surprisingly calm ! Yes, the middle of it was chaotic, but the far ends were peaceful.
You can always get a table, and staff are fantastic, as soon as one guest vacates, the table is cleaned for the next guest.
Main restaurant, onboarding , we discovered we were due to be sat on a table for 8, we asked to be moved, and this was accomodated, again with no fuss !!! If only all ships were like this !!!!
Food onboard is excellent, if you so wish, you can have 7 courses for both lunch and dinner !!! The restaurant for sit down lunch is available daily, again very welcome !!
Entertainment was good, very different from the big US lines, but this is because there are so many nationalities on board, so there was a Michael Jackson tribute show, one called FANTASIA , which was excellent, most featured some acrobatics, who were amazing.
The staff on this ship were fantastic, very warm , friendly, smiley and they looked happy.
The ship was spotlessly clean , and cleaners were evident all over the ship.
In fact, I would say, it was probably the cleanest ship I have ever been on.
Some reviewers before mentioned the amount of smokers around, and the fact smoking is permitted in some bars, as a non smoker, I was concerened about this, but I have to admit, there was absoloutley no issue on this ship at all, maybe the air con is more efficient !
Its our 1st cruise with MSC, we were a litle dubious having sailed with Costa in the past, which we didn't enjoy .MSC is a different world !
Great staff, fabulous ship and fantastic value ! Less
