This river cruise offered fascinating insights into China. The food was good, staff great and accomodations comfortable. Viking offboat activities were OK -could have been better since they were a bit commercial. The offboat food was OK but NOT great. As a groupd of six we enjoyed ourselves on our own on several nights.

The boat was clean and relaxing; minimal activities but the scenery (after we reached the first dam (from Shamghai to Beijing) was wonderful; prior to that it was very commercial shipping etc. That's the nature of the Yangtze River. The Three Gorges Dam was interesting.

Their Beijing tours were better than Shanghai. All hotels were 4-5 star although some are not in the central part of the local cities... check that before you book.
