Living in the Bay Area we chose to embark in San Francisco. We took the ferry from Vallejo to Pier 41 in San Francisco and walked to Pier 35 to board the Sea Princess. We handed off our suitcases to the porter and proceeded into the terminal to check-in. I must say this was the fastest we've ever checked in and got onboard by noon. Our stateroom was also ready to drop off our carry on bags!
C545 is right across from the crew only stairs. It really didn't bother us because hardly anyone used it except for delivering/picking up luggage at the beginning/end of the cruise. It is a great location for emergency exit.
The cabin is at the end of mid-ship area and the Casino is below. No public area above, just more cabins. It was quiet and you didn't feel a lot of rocking when the sea was choppy.
C545 is about midway between the forward and aft elevators.
Off to lunch in the Horizon Court.
Service was very good the entire trip. The variety and quality of food in the Horizon Court needs some improvement. We ate most of our meals in the main dining room.
I didn't know beforehand that the laundromats were closed while in port in Alaska and made the mistake of trying to do laundry after it was closed for two days. Everyone was queued up trying to wash and dry clothes. Some were lined up 20 minutes before the laundry room opened at 8 am. My husband was in there for 4.5 hours trying to wash/dry our two loads. I'll know better next time to wait until the middle of the day! On the bright side, we met a lot of nice people while waiting to do laundry.
Disembarking was very well organized. We were to be out of our stateroom by 8:30 am and then meet our disembarking group at 9:50 am to get off the ship. When we got to the meeting place at 9:50, the escort was already calling the the next group due at 10:10 am. They were 20 minutes ahead of schedule disembarking people!!!! We were off the ship by 10:00 and our luggage was waiting for us down in the terminal.
This was the easiest embark and disembark we've had on any cruise.
