Have travelled on several cruise lines including the mega ships. I thought they were great. They have their place but now having done the small ship thing, have to say I absolutely loved it. Quieter, more relaxed, clubby atmosphere, NOT stuffy at all. Took to it like a duck to water and have loved it so much that we are now booked to go on our second azamara cruise in November. Hope that tells you that this is a great cruise line, the staff are wonderful, the food is really good and yes, sometimes there are hiccups but they cannot do enough to sort it out. Everyone from the captain down are so nice and friendly and it's all the little touches that make it so good. Hot chocolate with a tot of rum served by the officers as you come back from a trip in cold weather. Cold towels and flavoured ice shots as you lie on a lounger in the sun. Lying on a lounger wrapped up, in the wind with not another soul in sight. You feel as if you are on your own luxury yacht. Superb.
itineraries, overnights in ports, no hassle over tipping and staff trying to flog you drinks, the inclusive wine is pretty good, value trips ,everything that they do makes you feel special and they are to be commended for this.
You will not get the big ship glitzy entertainment but what they did was pretty good and jim who played the piano in the lounge and was very funny ( think new York piano bar) and Russ the cruise director were both excellent. We met many lovely people, although we were at the younger age of the scale( early 50's)
Rooms are comfortable and well stocked. Nice touches.
If you are looking for glitz and glamour this is not the cruise line for you. If you are looking for peace, comfort, value or money, no hassle and free flowing wine, this is the one to go for.
I was almost crying when I had to leave so roll on November when we are off to Italy, Greece and Croatia! We cannot wait until November to go back to azamara and enjoy it all over again. The med this time as opposed to the far east and journey instead of quest but no matter, it will still be great. Sure, we could have got a better deal with one of the bigger ships but you know what, I don't think I could go back. You really do get. What you pay for........... Less
