Having taken two cruises, one on the more vibrant Mariner of the Seas out of Los Angeles, and the current cruise on Celebrity Summit out of Cape Liberty, NJ, I can see why I enjoyed the Celebrity experience so much.
Traveling on Celebrity is incredibly relaxing and the food was wonderful, all the way from the finger sandwiches in Cafe al Bacio to the nightly sushi in the Waterfall Grill to the Chateaubriand and lobster tail in main dining to the venison loin in Normandie. The service was impeccable and the bloody mary's and martinis at the Martini Bar are second to none. You have to watch them pour a martini flight if at all possible. The cruise director, Sue Denning, was a hoot and was very entertaining, a class act. Every staff member on the cruise exemplified a high level of service mentality and weren't overly friendly like they were on RCCL. I enjoyed the laid back nature of the cruise and was perfectly fine with the lack of rock climbing wall or ice skating rink.
Having an inside cabin, the room was obviously a little cramped, but then again I probably only spent a few non waking hours in my room. The cabin attendants were like ghosts and I only saw them a few times total. The bedside chocolates were actually quite interesting and delicious, a different flavor every day.
