Well we finally after 25 years of cruising took the plunge and tried Carnival. We went with 6 other people who have cruised nothing besides Carnival and just took their first cruise this past year. We are easy to please people and figured we would be fine. We have cruised previously with Holland America, Royal Caribbean and our favorite Princess. What we found immediately upon our first steps in the ship is the decor--we are avid boaters and I guess this sums it up--the difference between a Bayliner and a Hatteras. Carnival is the Bayliner. Very cheaply made--did it matter--not really. What's with the silver milk jugs in the main area--very tacky we thought.

Our room was fine--we had a balcony which had a couch and bathroom was nice size. Not cramped at all. Service was excellent. Entertainment was good although the bar we went to was small and the smoke so bad that I couldn't breathe and I've only felt that way twice--comedy club in the city I live and on the Legend. It truly was awful.

The food and this is the quencher--it really truly sucked. McDonalds could do better. We got off the ship yesterday and I was asked by friend if we would go on Carnival again and I said no--I held up my breakfast toast and asked him to feel it--wasn't even toasted and was cold. Princess you put the bread through in the machines so it's freshly toasted and hot. Fruit on the ship was a joke. Only the cheap fruit--melon and canaloupe--bananas and apples. Once in awhile watermelon. Where are the other peaches, strawberries. Isn't it summer and getting to be the time for fruit? Pizza was awful. Lobster one night was a joke--I'd say it was all of 3 ounces. I have purchased 4 ounce tails before and these were much smaller. It was good but truly very little. Most of the stuff just tasted awful. Even fried chicken batter was so thick that was hard to get it down. Normally I can eat almost everything but Carnival needs to update their recipes and buy from other suppliers or something. Up the price of the cruise a bit to make it a bit better.
