Carnival Miracle 5/30/12

Sail Date: May 2012
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)

We arrived at Manhattan Cruise Terminal at 11:30 and it was a breeze through check in, less than 15 minutes. Then we sat for our number to be called but there was a problem with the camera system and it took a while but was not too bad.
Once on the ship we did some exploring and went to Horatio's for some lunch. We were extremely surprised by the efficiency of the buffet staff and the quality of the food, do not miss the deli. Always a line at the deli but well worth it the sandwiches are awesome.
Our room was ready at 1:30 and we went to check it out and were almost immediately greeted by our room steward who introduced himself, answered questions and made us feel welcome. Room seemed adequate size, extended balcony was nice. Furnishings and bathroom were in good condition. The bed was hard but comfortable. Carnival seems to have it down to a science when designing the room because closet and shelf space were far better than other lines I have sailed.
There were some More things we really liked and others we did not. Everyone seems to have their own opinion but here is mine. The pool areas are too small to accommodate the size of the ship. There is never enough space for passengers to relax. Chair hogs are everywhere so I will not complain about them. Its just poor design there. There were mainly DJ's playing music, I enjoy bands more when cruising. Nothing seems to put me into that relaxed vacation mode like a steel drum. Also, they barely played and Caribbean style music. The musicians they did have were not very good.
The staff was excellent, friendly and attentive. We had chosen My Time Dining and were pleasantly surprised by the staff there. We arrived for dinner and there was a line of about 30 people and we were still seated in about 5 minutes, their efficiency was unsurpassed. Did not expect to receive the level of service we were provided with because of the dining option, the hostess made every attempt to seat you with the same waiter, which they did every night. The food quality was also very good.
The entertainment (other then musicians) was very good to excellent there were many different activities available all day, every day. There were some comedians who were excellent and others were good. They also had a ventriloquist who was great. The shows were also very good and entertaining.
Disembarkation went smooth and we were off the boat by 9:30 and through Customs by 10:00.
Overall a great trip and will definitely travel consider travelling with Carnival again. Less
