We celebrated our adult sons' golden birthdays on the cruise. We spent the night prior at Comfort Suites hotel, included breakfast. Free shuttle from airport to hotel/hotel to port. Arrived at 11:30 AM at the ship and were through check-in process in a flash. Had our picture taken, which turned out best pic of all and bought it later on ship! Had carry-on with swimsuits, so went straight to pool and got food at buffet which was close to pool. Get there early! Hardly anyone in the pool. There was a band and organized dancing, so I joined in the Conga line.Heard we could get into our rooms at 2PM or so, left pool to see our sons' reaction to their cabin. I had payed extra for decorations and a cake waiting for them. It looked great with balloons, banners and streamers. Cake was good I heard...Mom/Dad never got a piece! Our rooms were all inside cabins, three in a row, which worked out great because we did not use our cell phones in the Bahamas. Rooms were clean, plenty of space for More
clothes, firm mattress which we like, wake-up calls on phones were self programmable! Ate dinner every night, in Main Dining Rooms. Excellent food! Lots of choices every night! Chocolate raspberry cake! Loved the servers and atmosphere. Had a bottle of wine to celebrate occasion and it was great. Photographers and servers gathered around to sing Happy Birthday! Very fun! Went to comedy show which was good, then to Karaoke. Sang duet with daughter in law, which was a blast.
2nd night, dinner at other MDR, there were two. Same good food, good service, not crowded....freestyle, so we just went there and they seated us at round table near windows. Very nice. Never had trouble with getting seated.
Like to order room service for b'fast so I can get ready and eat at same time. Place card on door night before. They bring it on time or even a few minutes early. Others in the family went to Garden Buffet for bfast.
Lunch was on private island first day and skipped lunch 2nd day and ate early dinner in MDR.
Went to show on last night, finale, was good, with same comedian but new material, very funny! Woman sang, well endowed with very low cut top, came out into crowd and pushed some older man's face into her chest! Not too appropriate for all ages.
Got up one AM for sunrise @5:45 on upper deck near pool, above Garden Cafe, found some coffee and small table. Very nice. Crew was already up and getting things ready. They work hard!
Bought the soda pkg but wouldn't do it again. Didn't drink enough to pay for it.
LOVED the towel animals every night! I told our cabin steward this, so she made two for us the next day!
Had been on a previous 7 night cruise on NCL, and thought the entertainment was better, maybe because of longer cruise? Also thought the Cruise Director on previous cruise was a riot, and MADE the cruise so much fun! He was the original voice of the Geiko Gecko from Geiko Ins commercials! He was the BEST!!!!
Disembarkation was a breeze! Walked off with our suitcases because of needing to be at airport by 9 AM. Got a taxi right away, so organized there, and arrived at airport ahead of schedule. Excellent process, NCL!!!
Overall, we had a fantastic trip! All 7 of us enjoyed the cruise, food/service/cabins were all great, and we had only one complaint: our son and daughter in law wanted to stay longer in Nassau! We are already planning another family cruise for 2015 when our other son has his golden birthday! Less
Perfect for the price. We were on tight budget. Inside cabin had plenty of space for 2 people to hang clothes and put in drawers. Hair dryer nice, clothes line nice, too. Loved the programmable wake-up call on phone in room! Used it ea morning! Used the safe, nice to have. Loved the towel animals! Loved the large striped pool towels. Nice and quiet at night, except one night our neighbor three doors down was drunk and yelling in hallway, but three men from NCL came and we never heard another peep. Would get inside cabin again, saves money and we sleep good in the dark!
Send someone from your group to get tickets for the tender boat. Got to island around 10 AM. View from island was incredible! Couldn't stop looking at blue water, sand beach, and our ship sitting way out there on water smooth as glass. Sm bldgs sold drinks, buckets of beer, but couldn't get water, had to walk a ways to another large bldg for water. BRING insulated WATER BOTTLES. Small shops here and there selling items, but we had no cash, they only take credit cards. BRING CASH. Rented a large inner tube that all of us could float on, with bucket of beer, should have brought our own snorkel gear, but left it all on ship! Water is clear and not too deep for quite a ways, which made it so fun. Lunch included, which was nice. Lots to choose from, 11 AM - 2 PM. We took 3 PM tender back to ship, the rest stayed until last tender at 4:30. All of us enjoyed the day there!
Snorkeling was on a sailboat catamaran. Great times! Water clear, saw beautiful neon blue fish, perfect except a storm came up and we had to get out of water early. Boat's bathroom toilet was backed up, too. Rum punch was great, so didn't notice the bathroom smell on way back to Nassau!
