Incredible once again Celebrity

Sail Date: May 2012
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

We have sailed with Celebrity 8 times now and after each of our cruises with them we wonder how it is that each cruise becomes our favorite. The crew of the Solstice provided yet again a favorite cruise for us.

Food: The main dining room provided most of our meals. I think our servers Jose and Dragona out did themselves in service and personality. The food was great but we notice that they have taken away the escargot and lobster bisque from the main menu. That was a shame. The matre di never attended our table to see whether we had any concerns etc. That was the first time in all of our cruises that this happened. The sommelier was also wonderful. His name was Baban Jovanovic and he is a seasoned veteran of serving with Celebrity. His personality and knowledge of wine and all of the ports was outstanding.
We ate at all of the specialty restaurants and I have to say that the Silk Harvest was horrid. The service was excellent but we have had better Asian food in shopping More mall food courts. Avoid spending your money on this restaurant.

Bars: All of the bars provided fast, friendly service. Buy a package as the prices are a little high. The best bartender was Vikash at the casino bar. Exceptional service and again welcoming.

Cabin: Comfortable room. Room service breakfast on the balcony was always on time and hot. Very tasty. Cabin stewarts did a good job.

Entertainment: I would say that the guest acts were average but the ships dancers and singers were excellent. We had a chance to tour the backstage and meet some of them. Very dedicated to their craft.

The pool deck was always clean. The pool butlers always made sure that there were no lounge chair hogs. If the chair was "reserved" by towels and books and left empty for too long of a period, the towels and books etc were removed so other guests could occupy the chairs.

I won't go into detail about the excursions other then to say outstanding. We enjoyed all of them. Well educated tour guides. One of the highlights was sailing into Venice. Beautiful scene enhanced by the ship playing classical Italian music to set the mood. Wonderful experience. We can hardly wait for our next 2 cruises with Celebrity. Its like coming home when we arrive Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Solstice Concierge Class Panorama Deck (9) 1194

Great location (albeit a long walk to elevator), wonderful balcony, just enough storage, washroom is typical Solstice class in other words huge for a cruise ship. Good size TV with excellent free movies to chose from
