Took a 9 night cruise to the Caribbean from Bayonne, NJ in May, 2012. Visited Bermuda, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and Labadee.
Cruise that we (wife and I) took in November was great. In May, we notice the following negative changes:
+ Dining Room menu degraded in choices and quality.
+ Dining room service so bad on the first two nights that we asked to be changed to a different table. Service at the second table was great.
+ Buffet downgraded in lots of areas. Lots of leftovers; lots of cheap pasta; coffee and ice tea stations that were empty; no lemon wedges for the ice tea; nobody walking around and serving water or ice tea; used to have dishes and cones at the frozen yogurt stand - now just cones; dry danish; coffee much different from before and variable from station to station - some was OK, some was much weaker; used to have a cherry or apple crumble dish after 3 that was very good - no more; bread pudding recipe had changed and not for the better.
+ Some entertainment was very good, but there seemed to be fewer singing and dancing reviews.
+ Carpets were dirty in some areas.
+ Maharajah Lounge was left unused most nights - probably a cutback in entertainment.
+ Room Steward was very good.
+ Confusion behind desk on a formal night. Some people said it was and it actually was not.
+ Cruise Director was very good.
+ We are platinum members and supposed to get robes and did not.
+ No ice water delivered to rooms every afternoon.
Overall, seemed like the staff had been cut back in a lot of areas and it showed up in the little things. Still great facilities but lost a lot of ambience. Was not just us who noticed. Spoke to lots of people who complained.
