Voyager of the Seas Dubai - Singapore

Sail Date: May 2012
Destination: Asia
Embarkation: Dubai

The ship was on it's way to Singapore and then to be a gambling ship traveling around the Asia Pacific region from what we heard. Crew had a lot of Chinese staff who were in general well trained and friendly. In my opinion the Cruise Director Gordon was annoying, and we went to few events where he was.

The cabin was a nice suite but underneath the pool deck, so you would hear chairs and tables being dragged across the above deck which was surprisingly loud. the air conditioner worked very well, which was important on this voyage.

Boarding was far and away the worst we've ever been on. Even with a Diamond membership number and in a suite, it took over an hour in a very hot, humid tent; I'm sure much longer for other guests. Disembarkation was okay, but we had signed up for a city tour before going to the hotel, and they were totally unprepared for this; apparently no communication between the ship and tour staffs.

Food was just okay, not anywhere near as good as More Celebrity or Holland America, and portions were small. Wait staff were very friendly.

The concierge service is totally different from Celebrity, and we never really did see him. No mid afternoon hor's d'oervres. Two of our suitcases were broken when delivered to the suite. One they were able to repair.

We had signed up for a tour with RC in Kuala Lumpur. The ticket said to be at the theater at 8:15 a.m. It was mass confusion, with many folks waiting on stairwells, and few staff. We finally left for the tour at 9:15 a.m. When I complained to one staff member John, he laughed. Other tours we booked on our own and had no problems - less expensive and you see what you want, and don't have 3 buses of 30 each at a stop.

The fitness center was good, although the audio systems on the machines do not work. Staff was friendly.

Internet service still drives me nuts, and they have no dedicated staff at the computer room. you have to go to the Guest Service desk and hope the person is technical. One half the people in line had internet issues.

I know I listed many negative things, but everything else was okay; it is Royal Caribbean and not Celebrity or Holland America.

Dubai and Singapore were amazing cities. Less

Cabin review: Voyager of the Seas Grand Suite Deck 10 1568

The cabin was a nice suite but underneath the pool deck, so you would hear chairs and tables being dragged across the above deck which was surprisingly loud. No shower, but a bath which had a very high side; not a real problem for us, but with disabilities? The air conditioner worked very well, which was important on this voyage.
