Wife and I decided to take the Paradise to Cozumel for the memorial day Holiday. Flew into Tampa Thursday morning, Southwest was 10 minutes early, retrieved luggage, cabbed to terminal, and on the ship in record time. From landing time to on ship a total of 45 minutes. We were off to a great start.
The cabin was a surprise, one of the biggest we have stayed in for a regular inside cabin. The shower was big enough to actually use like a shower at home and I`m a 6 foot 240lb. guy.
The Paradise is the newest of Carnival`s fantasy class of ships. It`s still over 10 years old. All the action is on the top decks. Promenade, casino, theater, dining rooms all on decks 8 thru 10 which is the Lido deck.
Only port on this cruise is Cozumel, one of our favorite ports. You can do anything you want in Cozumel. Our favorite spot is Paradise Beach,a 10 minute cab ride, $13/couple. They have added a beautiful pool in the past year and charged a $2/person cover charge for the run of the facility. If you want to use the water toys in the ocean its an extra. Between the pool, the drinks, and the weather it was a perfect day.
The food on the lido was as expected. Carnival buffet food, you know what you are getting when you sign up.The dining room was a pleasant surprise. The food was better than I thought it would be. Our waiter,Sam was the best waiter we have ever had on Carnival. He was a real professional.
The CD was "Sparkles" not real enjoyable for my tastes. However, not a make or break for us on any cruise.
I wish they would go smoke free in the casino like the rest of the ship, but never going to happen. They want to keep as many people as possible in there playing as much as possible.
All in all a very relaxing 4 day cruise for a budget price. The debark was as easy as the embark. This cruise was worth the money and would do it again.
