Norwegian Star - Alaska

Sail Date: August 2004
Destination: Alaska
Embarkation: Seattle

This was our 2nd cruise experience, the first on NCL. The cruise overall exceeded our expectations, not because of NCL but because of the destination. Alaska is the most magnificent place to visit.

We enjoyed all of the ports of call. The train ride from Skagway up into the mountains is just amazing! Glacier Bay is a one of a kind place to see. We have doubts about cruising with NCL again.

The food in most of the restaurants left much to be desired. The "grill" type food was served in such a manor that the meats were cold, and the breads stale. The "premium" restaurants where you pay an add'l amount to eat at just seems wrong to me on a cruise. The others where reservations were required were always booked full. I never could get seated at one. We do not care for the "Freestyle" cruising.

The ship was very beautiful, but in our stateroom we were subjected to listening to trickling water inside the wall all night long while trying to sleep. We asked the More staff about it and they said simply there was nothing they could do, the pipes in the wall drained from above, it was the ship's design.

The staff seemed less than inspired to do anything more than the minimum amount of service for us. Maybe we were just spoiled on the previous cruise experience that we had. Less
