Well, we did it and we loved our experience.
We arrived in Miami the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown Miami. Great location near the port and across the street from the Bayside Mall where you find good restaurants, small shops and good music. While in Miami, we took the bus (across the street from the hotel) to South Beach and spend the day visiting the area.
At 11:30 the next day, we took a taxi right in front of the hotel to get to the ship. A 5-minute ride took us there. My first impression was that the ship was huge. We left our bags with an NCL attendant and proceeded to go on board. Everything went very smoothly.
Our bags were delivered to our cabin a little while later. Our cabin was lovely. We loved having a balcony where we could read or have a glass of vino before dinner. I read a lot of reviews complaining about the bathroom/shower arrangement. We didn't have any problem with it. In fact, we quite liked it. As others have said, the sink is small. Again, we didn't see it as a problem.
ENTERTAINMENT - We especially liked Howling at the Moon and the Blues in the Fat Cats Bar. Overall, the entertainment was very good. The International Crew Show on the day before disembarkment was especially well done.
FOOD - We had breakfast and lunch at the Garden Cafe every day. So much choice and all so good! Manhattan was excellent, Taste a little less. We had dinner at the Bistro, Cucina and the Steakhouse, all specialty restaurants that we really enjoyed.
CREW - Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. We were greeted with a smile everywhere we went. Because the ship was half full, we got a lot of attention from the crew.
DISEMBARKMENT - We prepared our luggage the night before, had breakfast in the morning and walked off with our bags. Easy!
HIGHLIGHTS - 1) Entering the Straight of Gilbraltar on a beautiful sunny day. 2) The International Crew Show.
We loved the EPIC, had a great time, and would book with NCL again.
