Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
Second cruise on Royal Caribbean
We have sailed on Princess, 2 times before and love the cruise line. We sailed on Mariner of the Seas several years ago and were very pleased with Royal Caribbean. So there was no hesitation about doing a high school reunion aboard Monarch of the Seas. I guess after 3 cruises I thought cruise ships were pretty much similar. What a surprise!! I should have checked further, but being excited about cruising, especially with old school friends, I didn't.

There were many problems including; toilets backing up, showers having things in them from the toilet because of the back-up, beds with problems, food was disappointing and the wait staff on deck was horrible. Friends sailing with us had such dirty rooms they had to be moved. Unfortunately because this is a very old ship it doesn't have stabilizers and we sailed in one of the roughest seas the captain and staff had ever been in. This of course isn't RC's fault, but just added to the disappointments, that included not being able to go to Coco Cay. There was no excuse for the things they had control of, not to be they way they should on a cruise ship. On the plus side, the entertainment was fabulous and the dining room wait staff was great! Will I sail a RC ship again, not sure. Definitely not on Monarch!
