Overall, I would give our cruise experience a 4 on a scale of 6. Embarkation was easy and speedy. Debarkation was just as easy, unlike many nightmares we've had before on another cruiseline. As far as the port, New Orleans, I don't think I'd sail out of that port again. The first 6 hours of our cruise were down the Mississippi. Then the whole next day at sea, weather was iffy, at best, and we were told that is the way it usually is in the Gulf Of Mexico during the Spring months. Weather was just as iffy on the way back into port at the end of our cruise. We felt like we lost two whole days of hot sunshine because of traveling through the Gulf Of Mexico. Not the cruise line's fault, though.
Guest room was OK. Very clean and exactly what I would expect for a bottom of the line, level 2, inside cabin. However, it was a bit noisy in our room because I was told by room attendant that the luggage cart corral was located directly beneath our cabin. Doors could be heard slamming all hours of the night under our room. In my opinion, they need to take those rooms out of commission. Attendant was very attentive and quite friendly. No issues there. I was very disappointed to find out that there, truly was, an underlying smell of SEWAGE on this ship. No matter where you went, there was a faint smell. Unacceptable in my opinion, on a ship the caliber of Royal Caribbean.
Also, the overall toilet flushing system throughout the ship seemed to have its challenges. I would suggest that Royal Caribbean spend some time and $$$ fixing these problems. What a turn off!!!! Overall cleanliness of the ship was fine. After all, it's a 10-year old ship, and beginning to show its wear in places, but nothing offensive.
