It truly was Magic

Sail Date: May 2012
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Galveston

Carnival had the embarkation process perfected- easy/peasy; same went for the disembarkation, too. All you other cruise companies sit up and take notes! To be fair, we arrived for embarkation early, around 9:45 a.m., had a very short wait and went through the line and were on the ship by 10:45. Upon return, we had tag 18 out of 24 and waited in the theater, deck 3 forward, till we were personally called to disembark prior to our number being called. We were off the ship, through customs and on the Moody Gardens van on our way back to the hotel and our car, and on the road home by 10:30 a.m.

The ship is a marvel- loved the decor, and anything else you can think of. And the food- the food was excellent. If you didn't like the food, you're just not right.

Booked two shore excursions through the ship, and one on our own to Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel- free beach. The tour in Jamaica was a very nice beach, also. And the swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman was a More life experience I wish for everyone.

We were a party of seven, and two were newbies to cruising- everyone loved, loved the cruise, the ship, the casino, the food, the services, just everything.

We would like to see Carnival offer a ten- or twelve-day Southern Caribbean cruise out of Galveston, to have the option of different ports of call, as we have cruised several times to the same ones now offered by several cruise lines. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Magic Balcony Verandah 8383

Comfortable room layout; small balcony. All-in-all, the accommodations were fine.

Port and Shore Excursions

Beach Break

(5)
One in our party went deep sea fishing and had a wonderful experience, and caught fish to boot! Six in our party went to the free beach at Mr. Sanchos, didn't rent anything but ordered drinks and snacks. Had a palapa, chairs, excellent service. Mr. Sanchos has a free side, and an all-inclusive side at this beach and the free side with the purchase of drinks and snacks wasn't all that expensive. Nice place- would go back again.

Deep Sea Fishing

One in our party went deep sea fishing. There were five people on the boat (there were three boats with six, six and five people, so everyone had a chance at the fighting chair. Two of the fish were too large to bring on board. Basically, it's a catch and release, so the fish that were brought on board went home with the crew.

Stingray Swim

(5)
The time at the beach was short- the food was good, but not much time to swim. However, the stingray swim was excellent.

Seawinds Beach Resort

(5)
A bit pricey, but very nice. Selected for a comfortable, relaxing day on the beach.
