Great Time!

Sail Date: April 2012
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

This was our third cruise on Carnival (although our first in about 18 years). After reading many reviews we expected to be disappointed but selected this cruise based on the dates and itinerary. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and had hoped for something special. We also consider ourselves food snobs so we had low expectations for meals. We were pleasantly surprised on all fronts.

The ship is nicely decorated and laid out well. There are activities all over the ship at almost any time of the day or night. Our cabin was roomy by cruise ship standards (balcony room 8133 level 8c). The shower was good and the balcony was well worth the extra money. The bed was not as comfortable as most hotel beds but it wasn't a problem as well fell into bed exhausted each night.
We loved the adult deck areas - while there were few children on this trip it was nice to have this area.

Food - the food in the dining room and the buffets was good to very good. More We dined in the Scarlett's steak house one night and it was fabulous. The highlight of our dining experience was Chef's Table, an on board excursion that was well worth the money. I highly recommend this experience. We selected Anytime Dining but sat with others each night (you are always asked if you'd like to eat alone or with others). This was terrific as we never met another passenger we didn't like. We met many different people from various places and found them all to be friendly and enthusiastic vacationers.

Drinks are expensive. Carnival is vigilant in its quest to insure no alcohol is brought on board by passengers. So if you drink be prepared to pay. Beers are over $6 and mixed drinks are $7.25 and higher. Tips are always added to the cost of the drink.

Entertainment was good. You will have as much fun as you chose. The more things you try the more fun you're likely to have. Musicians were very talented, comedians were good and shows were enjoyable. There are plenty of contest, shows and of course the casino, to entertain you.

Ports visited: Key West - loved it. Grand Cayman - loved it (hated tendering) - Montego Bay - liked it well enough. Less
