Advertised as a Christmas holiday cruise with the opportunity for visiting Christmas markets in France and Germany along the Rhine. Weeks prior to the cruise the Rhine and Danube Rivers were experiencing low water levels. Our entire cruise was fine; no problems with the water levels. In fact, the weather throughout the cruise was excellent. All ports listed in the itinerary were visited. All the land tours were great. Each Christmas market seemed to be better than the previous. The long periods of daylight cruising were relaxing and full of sights along the river that were entertaining. Should have spent the extra days in Switzerland; that would have capped off the trip just great.

As always, the Viking ship was excellent. Though we booked a Class B cabin, we were birthed in a Class A cabin. Not too much different. The crew and the service were exceptional and the Tour Director was a hoot! It had only been nine months since our first Viking cruise, so we knew what to expect and how things worked, so we were much more comfortable on this cruise. We're both waiting for another cruise, probably a Christmas one again. The decorations of the European cities really set the mood for the holidays; it really is the best time for a cruise.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with Large Window

Cabin A

Class A cabin on the upper deck. French doors to the outside, no balcony. Comfortable bed, and a couple of chairs. Small closet, adequate dresser drawers for two. Luggage storage under bed. Only a couple of electrical outlets, 220V. Flat screen TV with six channels, mostly English language. Bathroom small, but surprisingly adequate. Never had any plumbing problems, no lack of hot water or water pressure. Being near the stern the engine sound and vibrations were more prominent. But we never heard the either room adjacent to us.
